Trimetal Contact Rivets – TRICON

MODISON TRICON – TRIMETAL CONTACTS

DOUBLE CLADDED CONTACT RIVETS

Double Cladded Rivets, popularly known as trimetal contacts are manufactured by cladding the head and the end of the copper rivet shank by silver metal. This brings in considerable reduction in the price of the rivets as compared to those made out of solid silver metal.

TRICON contacts are manufactured using a specialized hot pressure welding process. The adoption of stringent quality control measures, with the various critical parameters being electronically controlled-ensures that TRICON has uniform silver thickness and perfect metallurgical bonding.

Areas of application
TRICON contact rivets are used where double action is required, e.g., in relays, regulators, micro-switches, push buttons, installation switches and contactors. They can be fitted to any contact spring or tongue; also to contact rockers, connecting or bridging links.

Cost effectiveness
very obviously the most effective reduction in manufacturing costs is achieved by reducing the amount of silver metal content. For this reason the use of TRICON contact rivets assumes more and more significance especially in view of the fact that most precious metal have been rising steadily in costs over the years and are expected to do so further.

Processing
TRICON contact rivets, manually or automatically rivetted, can replace any double heading solid contacts. During the rivetting process, the opposite contact is formed when the silver cladding at the end of the shank is formed into a contact head.
